On Thursday, February 28th, we had a talk in the mezzanine with Ragnhild, who is a master student at BAS. Ragnhild told us about her attention deficit disorder (ADHD) and how the actual situation of the mezzanine affects her concentration. She told us that the vibration, the movement, and sound of the wooden floor when we walk is annoying for her, also the sound that the stairs make when we access the mezzanine and the 2nd floor. Another interesting observation that Ragnhild told us is that she gets disturbed by the human sounds and activities, but not by traffic or when the workshop machines are running.
Adaptability is the word that Ragnhild gave us as advice for possible intervention, a multi-faceted space, transformative, for her the different intensities of natural light throughout the day as well as the sound of rain and the harmony of space are of great importance to help her attention deficit.
To conclude our talk, Ragnhild told us that the creation of different levels in the mezzanine that serve as boundaries for the sound of the human activities would be a great contribution for her.
