Week 18: Work in progress

Monday 29.05.2019

We used the day finishing the blog post for Copenhagen Study trip and made the cardboard model in 1:20 of the mezzanine. At the end of the day, we started coming up with design ideas for the ramp at the mezzanine - and discussing the different ideas.

Tuesday 30.05.2019

We had a desk crit with Cecilie in the morning, showing our ideas and discussing the possibilities of the space. Our individual sketches:

We agreed on a proposal/a starting design that is flexible and functional. A good basis to continue developing the idea further.

A ramp that covers the whole mezzanine, with some cuts/openings that could be f.ex. seatings or storage.

In the afternoon we had a good and rich brainstorming, focusing on:

1. The cut + additional slope. How long should it be? How and where should we "cut" the ramp?

2. Cut hole + opening + function of the cut hole.

3. Connection to all axis. To the window - to the hall - to the other stairway.

We paired up, and switched the drawings to add thoughts and ideas.

Discussing the different ideas

Thursday 01.05.2019

Since we used the whole day on Wednesday to work further on the booklet, we started Thursday morning discussing each other's texts.

After Skype meeting with Vibeke + Cecilie around lunch time, we made a plan for the week and a list of what we need to do the rest of the semester. We also made a list of what to think about when designing the mezzanine.

(to the left is the core and qualities of each of our projects from midterm. We want to bring these qualities into the design of the ramp on the mezzanine.)

In the end of the day we started to think about the construction of the ramp (concerning the beams underneath the mezzanine), and also thinking of alternative designs of the ramp - to have a plan B, if our first idea turns out to not be feasible or realizable.

Friday 03.05.2019

Friday = Time for designing. We are working in 3D program, in proper drawing and directly in the 1:20-model to get a spatial impression of how it might turn out to be in the end.
