Week 4: Limits of Action

The workshop engaged with Charlotte Erckrath is still going on. We are going to have a look in which direction the different participants are leading their own experimentation on the mezzanine.

Noticed the warm cloths, it is very cold in there.

Elisabeth tries to reach the top of the wall despite her size. When doing such a motion, you’re stretching your body, skin and cloths. But what’s behind this wall? why would you stretch your body in such a way? Maybe there was some reason for that wall to be almost the exact same size as a human who is lifting up his arm.

Gustavo, the tallest of all, laydowned, stretched it self like an angel to see how big the space created by his body is.

At the same time he created a copy of his body with plastic taped. He will unravelled this “second skin” to create new space. Further researches will tell us how the body and his skin can relate in space.

Hanne continues on her path of the jump. Dripping her feet in a rose colour, holding mint paint in her hand, she looked how the momentum of her body has an impact on what she was holding.

Does the two colours relates to each other? Can we extract some logic of it?

Tanguy felt like a robot last time when the brush where sticked directly on his body and we could read it on the painting as well.

There was a need for fluidity that will talk more about how moves the human body. A painting suit was built.

He did multiple passage and we can see how the different mark of painting are very similar.

Why are the mark showing this path? Is getting up as easy as we think? How does that relates to the gravity?

Praewa restrained herself by not bending her knees while going up the stairs that lead to the mezzanine.

How does the ankle, wrist, elbow relate in such case? What kind of path will leave her body behind her?

Han stuck in his chair challenged his body to see how far he could reach before falling over.
